Acknowledgments

As a shareware and freeware company, we like to acknowledge other shareware, freeware and open source products and web services that we use and support. Everything listed is software and services that we use and recommend.

Hosting/Domain Name Registry/E-Commerce

• GoDaddy.com: We found no where else that gave us so much freedom (full DNS, ability to compile our own software on the servers) for so little a month (we're currently using one of their virtual dedicated server plans). It also includes large amounts of disk space and bandwidth. Good support and where else can you get that support and register a domain name for around $8?
• PayPal: The cheapest discount rates that we could find, with no gateway fees or merchant account fees! Thinking of selling online, check out their rates, free to join and can instantly start accepting credit cards. And, no, your customers do not need to have a PayPal account. Their sandbox site makes it easy to test your store interface.
• CubeCart: Powerful, customizable shopping cart. Our implementation is heavily modified, but the fact that we could, is one reason we love it. Free if you keep its copyright notices in place, otherwise there is a license fee to remove its copyright notices from your site.

3D Graphics Software and Content

• Bryce by DAZ Productions Inc: Used to create our logo and logo movie, in addition, used heavily for the graphics in our puzzle game, Puzzle Island, including its icon shown to the right. Good 3D renderer, especially for terrains, and its under $100!
• DAZ Productions, Inc.: Tons of quality content for download and sale. They also have a free renderer. The palm trees in the icon to the right uses content from Estevez that is sold on the their site.

2D Graphics Software and Content

• Photoshop by Adobe Inc: Please, you know about this one, right?
• Image*After: A great resource for free, quality images. This is always the first place we go to when looking for images or textures. Also, it is often the last and only place we go, since we often find just what we need.

Audio Software and Content

• GarageBand by Apple, Inc: You know about this one too, right?
• Flash Kit: Lots of freeware, public domain and shareware sound effects and music! We relied on them heavily for our upcoming game.
• Sounddogs.com: A large collection of shareware sounds.

Software Packaging and Delivery

• DMG Designs by Kingdom Era, LLC.: What did you expect? We use it, recommend it and of course, in our biased opinion, it's the best available.

Web Site Authoring/Miscellaneous

• TextWrangler by Bare Bones Software: An amazing text editor, made even more shocking by the fact that it is freeware! We use this for web site development and any other place we need or want to work with plain text.
• pphBB: This is pretty much the standard for message boards or forums. Free, open source and built upon php and html templates and therefore extremely customizable. Check out our variation at http://forum.kingdom-era.com.
